As the year progresses, injuries occur, and contenders' weaknesses are exposed, teams will be willing to offer more rather than less. While Koufos, will never net us anything huge (mid-1st round pick at best), there's no urgent need to move him. Minnesota was able to acquire Wiggins, because the LeBron signing put huge pressure on the Cavs to get good fast. Dallas was able to acquire Bogut for dirt cheap because Golden State desperately needed to dump him. It was the central icon of the Desis (Supplication) row of the iconostasis of the Dormition Cathedral in Vladimir, Russia. Most importantly, the best trades come about due to timing. This powerful icon was painted by master iconographer Saint Andrei Rublev at the beginning of the 15th century. Make him earn his time, instead of throwing him into the fire. He could benefit from something McLemore never got, limiting his exposure as a 1st or 2nd year player. Additionally, while he is showing some new offensive skills, WCS isn't really playing well. Clearly he's not the long-term answer, so the extra minutes can showcase his skills and keep him on the radar of interested teams. Given that situation I think it's wise to give Koufos some extra minutes. It's the beginning of the year, and teams need to feel out their new rosters. Teams are really averse to making trades before December 15th, when players who were signed as FAs in the offseason can be traded. I think you'll start hearing trade rumors about Koufos closer to the trade deadline. I don't know if that just gives us a 2nd round pick or something more, but if Belinelli got a low 1st, Kosta can't be that far behind. I think Kosta has some trade value since he's a decent backup center on a fairly small contract and there are some contending teams that don't have great big-man depth. We would also clear some PF time for Rudy in smaller lineups, and be able to play Casspi at SF a little more. If we traded him away for a draft pick, we would start WCS alongside Boogie. However, I don't think he's the answer for us in the long term and his being on the roster prevents our other guys from shining. He has some skills and I think he will continue to age well and still compete with good centers, bringing down some boards and getting a few buckets and an assist here and there. I think last year he was slightly above average in terms of production for a bench center.

We also have a very talented young and versatile defensive beast in Cauley-Stein getting very minimal minutes behind Koufos. We know he can shoot, we know he can drive, we know he plays hard too, and we know he is great for team chemistry. However, because of him joining us, since we already have Rudy, we have a very good bench SF in Casspi getting almost zero minutes. I didn't think I would like Matt Barnes but damn, the guy can play.
